Library systems and procedures help provide a safer environment for library visitors and employees alike.
Upgraded ventilation. Increased fresh air, HEPA filtration, and state-of-the-art UV air sanitizers help improve air quality in the library.
Hand sanitizer and wipes are freely available throughout the library.
"Mask required" hours are available daily. For 30 minutes every day before official opening hours, we allow self-serve browsing, checkout, and computer use to anyone who needs or wants an extra measure of safety. All visitors ages 2 and up are required to wear a mask during this special access period. No appointment is required. Just arrive up to 30 minutes prior to start of business.
Masks are encouraged at all times for everyone who is able to wear one. Why? The public library is for everyone. This includes people who may be at higher risk of getting very sick with COVID-19 or who have family members at higher risk. Mask use provides an extra level of protection for the wearer and reassurance for everyone at the program and in the library.
Masks are free and available on your way in.
We respect each person’s right to decide what is best for themselves and their family, and we ask everyone to treat their fellow visitors with kindness and respect for the choices they make.
Note: Masks are requiredduring before-hours access, as noted above.
Request materials by placing them on hold in the library catalog or the Vernon Library app.
Choose your pickup location. If you leave the default, "Vernon Area Public Library," your items will be available on the "Holds" shelves, inside the building. If you prefer contactless pickup, select the drive-up window.
Watch for an email saying your materials are ready for pickup. Bring your library card with you.
Return books, DVDs, and other standard library materials 24/7 using the slot just past the drive-up window or drop your items in a remote book return bin. Returns are accepted inside the library during regular business hours.
