Moving Toward Wellness6/10/2026 This summer, we’re continuing our wellness journey, exploring meaningful actions that support healthy minds and bodies for ourselves and our families. Discover how fitness strengthens both body and mind. Through a curated series of lectures and workshops, you will have opportunities to explore how physical activity strengthens overall health, boosts mental well-being, and increases daily energy levels. Get ready for an exceptional experience learning from Andrea Metcalf, a nationally recognized celebrity health and wellness expert with more than 30 years of experience helping people move, feel, and live better. She is an author and trusted media personality who has appeared on NBC’s Today Show, Steve Harvey, Oprah.com, USA Today, and many national TV and print outlets. With a lifelong focus on intelligent movement and holistic health, Andrea is a leading voice in functional fitness, recovery, mobility, and Pilates. She is the founder and Master Trainer of FLX Move Pilates, a science-backed movement method and studio brand designed to help individuals of all ages improve strength, flexibility, and comfort in daily life. We asked Andrea a few questions to jump-start our alliance. What do you hope our patrons gain from our collaboration? I hope patrons gain practical, approachable tools that help them move more comfortably and confidently in their everyday lives. This collaboration is about making movement education accessible—so people of all ages leave feeling empowered, informed, and supported in caring for their bodies long-term. What are your tips for staying consistent when life gets busy? Consistency doesn’t require long workouts. Small, regular movement—10 to 20 minutes—can be just as impactful. Choose activities you enjoy, schedule them like appointments, and focus on progress rather than perfection. Even gentle movement counts. What are some suggestions for encouraging children to embrace fitness? Make movement fun and pressure-free. When kids see activity as play—rather than exercise—they’re more likely to stay engaged (Same for adults!). Family movement, outdoor play, and trying a variety of activities help children discover what they enjoy and build positive associations with being active. How does exercise or fitness contribute to mental well-being? Movement supports mental well-being by reducing stress, improving mood, and increasing focus. Exercise helps regulate the nervous system, supports better sleep, and builds confidence. Even light, mindful movement can create a sense of calm and clarity. What are tips for balancing cardio and strength training at any age? A balanced routine includes both. Cardio supports heart health and endurance, while strength training maintains muscle, bone density, and joint stability. Aim for a mix of both throughout the week, adjust intensity to your ability, and prioritize proper form and recovery as you age.
