2024 Most-Watched on Kanopy

The award-winning film 'Past Lives' topped the list for 2024.

Two Oscar-nominated films — Past Lives and Anatomy of a Fall — lead the list of “Most-Watched Films of 2024” on Kanopy, the no-cost, no-ads streaming service available from Vernon Area and other public libraries.

“Kanopy’s 2024 most-streamed list includes recent award-winners, critically acclaimed independents, and beloved cinephile classics, in keeping with the diverse appeal of Kanopy’s massive library of more than 30,000 films, television series, and original programming,” said Jason Tyrell, Executive Vice President of Content, at OverDrive, the owners of Kanopy.

The top 10 most-watched films on Kanopy among US public library card holders in 2024 were:

1. Past Lives (2023), nominated for Best Picture
2. Anatomy of a Fall (2023), which received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay
3. Jules (2023), a critically acclaimed indie favorite 
4. You Hurt My Feelings (2023), with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
5. Golda (2023), which won that year’s Cinema for Peace Award
6. Dial M for Murder (1954), a classic thriller
7. Possession (1981)
8. Talk to Me (2022), a horror instant classic from Australia
9. Sometimes I Think About Dying (2023), a film festival favorite
10. She Came to Me (2023), a tender romantic comedy

The BBC’s “Father Brown” takes overall top honors among Kanopy’s 2024 most-watched television series list, landing five different seasons among the top 10:
