Want to lend a hand? Adults with time and talent to share are invited to apply to volunteer at the library. Opportunities vary widely, from weekly commitments to assisting with single or ongoing programs, crafts, or project prep. Every June and July, teen volunteers help run the Summer Library Club. Check back in early 2020 for information about next summer's program.
Donate books 24/7: Look for the green drop box at the back of the library parking lot. The library works with Better World Books, a social enterprise that processes book donations. Better World maintains the drop box, collects and sorts materials, and dispatches them for secondary donation, resale, or recycling. A portion of sales is donated to the library. Another portion helps fund major nonprofit literacy programs including the National Center for Families Learning, Room to Read, Books for Africa, and Feed the Children. Accepted materials include:
The Vernon Area Public Library District welcomes monetary gifts, bequests, and gifts of property or materials from individuals, groups, foundations, or corporations.
