Checking Out Materials

Materials are checked out at the Patron Services Desk. VAPLD also offers the privacy and convenience of self-checkout stations located in the lobby. Patrons with $5 or more in overdue fines or fees may not checkout.

Returning Materials

The library has drop boxes available 24 hours a day for the return of library materials. Drop boxes are located in:

• Buffalo Grove at the northeast corner of the Grove Shopping Center near the corner Lake-Cook and McHenry Roads
• [Temporarily closed (as of March 6, 2012)] Long Grove in Stempel Parking Lot near the corner of Old McHenry Road and Robert Parker Coffin Road
• Library circle driveway and on the wall near the library's main entrance

Patrons may also return library materials inside the library at the Patron Services Desk for immediate check-in or at any public library in Illinois. Please allow several days for materials returned to another public library to be routed back to Vernon and checked in from your account.

Note: Patrons are responsible for materials until they are officially checked in and removed from their account.
