One of the spaces on the "Dream Big Bingo" reading log encourages you to "read a book about art or an artist". Our art section in the Kids department contains books on drawing, painting, collage...you name it! Artists such as Picasso, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Monet, Van Gogh and so many more have a home on our shelves. Check out the books in the Dewey number 759.
And if you want to take your study of art to the next level, check out a DVD, such as Cartooning from A to Z by Mike Artell found in the DVD section at J/DVD CAR to get some great drawing tips. |

The Bookmark Contest theme this year was "Soar into Reading." We had 464 entries for the Bookmark Contest from schools throughout the area. First, Second and Third place winners in each grade were awarded ribbons.
Congratulations to Emma F., a third-grader at Pritchett Elementary School, whose bookmark won the "Best in Show." Emma's bookmark has been professionally printed and is available at the Youth Services Desk.
Visit the Youth Services Department before December 9 to see all the amazing artwork. Don't forget to bring your camera to get a picture of your artist with their creation!
Great job to all the artistic participants! |
