Ready to read the 2014 nominee books? They are now on display in the our temporary library.

When it comes to downloading e-books, our patrons have the Advantage. In addition to dozens of titles added each month that are shared with other libraries, look for titles marked with the Advantage symbol for items exclusively for our patrons with shortened hold times. New Advantage titles added this month include:

Through the end of May, the library will operate from a temporary location as the main building undergoes renovation work.

Patrons can check out books, DVDs, games, and other materials via the “Library to Go,” a mini-library located in the Annex building behind the main library. Longtime patrons will recognize the orange building on Indian Creek Road as the previous home of the Vernon Area Public Library, from 1979 unti 1993, when the current building opened.

New books and bestsellers, movies, select magazines, and an assortment of other popular materials will be available for browsing and checkout at the “Library to Go.” Most other materials will be available by request: find an item in the catalog, place it on hold, and library staff will retrieve the item and notify you when it is ready to be picked up. We also encourage you to explore the many options for digital materials offered by the library, including e-books, downloadable audiobooks, magazines, music, and more. Digital materials are accessible without a physical visit to the library, and are therefore unaffected by the building renovation.

Enjoy little or no wait for these new Advantage e-books when you log in to MyMediaMall by Overdrive with your Vernon Area Library card number and PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number).

Even if the waiting list appears long, as a Vernon Area Library cardholder, you will jump to the front of the line (or close to it), thanks to extra copies we have purchased exclusively for our patrons. The newest Advantage titles added to our catalog include:

Attention aspiring young authors! The Vernon Area Public Library is pleased to announce that we will be publishing the second annual Write Away! Literary Magazine, which gives authors in grades 3-8 the chance to be published and share their writing with family, friends, and the community.  If you'd like to look at the 2012 Write Away!
