All of the First Place winning bookmarks in each grade have been printed and are available at the Youth Services Desk. Pick up one, or collect the set! The bookmarks will be displayed on our Youth Services wall until December 7 and then they will be returned to the schools. All of the winners recently attended a special art workshop. Look at our Flickr set of the winning entries and workshop creations. Congratulations to all who participated in the 2012 Bookmark Contest. |

"Itsy bitsy spider" - fingerplay from Vernon Area Public Library on Vimeo.
You are your child's first teacher. Even before they go to school, kids are building their reading skills. Five simple activities you can do together will get you off to the right start: talking, reading, singing, writing and playing. For library programs designed to build early literacy skills, contact Youth Services at (224) 543-1486.

The VAPL Youth Services librarians recently enjoyed recording some of our favorite songs, fingerplays, rhymes and read alouds, perfect for sharing.
