The Vernon Area Public Library District invites interested and qualified individuals to apply for open positions at the library. Applications will be accepted for the listed positions until the posted date, or until the position is filled.
The selection of all employees is based upon their qualifications for the position for which they are applying. These qualifications include but are not limited to education, work experience, personality, and the physical ability to perform the work required by the specific position for which they are applying. The library does not discriminate on the basis of race, citizenship, ethnic origin, religious or political beliefs, age, sex, or sexual orientation.
Applications are available at the Patron Services Desk in the Library or you can print and fill out the online version. Resumes, with a cover letter, will be accepted by e-mail, addressed to the individual named in each position announcement. Applications and resumes will be retained by the library for 90 days from the day of submittal. No application or resume will be accepted for a non-posted position.

Part-time Youth Services Librarian
24 hours per weekincluding evening and weekend hours
Join a busy, progressive 13 member team which serves children from birth through 8th grade, as well as their caregivers. Responsibilities include reference, readers’ advisory, collection development, web content development, and programming
Requirements
· MLS from an ALA-accredited library school
· Minimum of 1 year experience working with a diverse population of children and teens in a public library
· Ability to organize work priorities and complete responsibilities on time without direct supervision
· Detail oriented with strong oral and written communication skills
· Team player dedicated to public service; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and public in order to achieve specific goals of the department
· Broad knowledge of children’s literature and current trends in children’s programming
· Skilled in internet and database searching with the ability to assist patrons in their use
· Web 2.0 experience required
