Computer Classes

The Vernon Area Public Library District provides computer instruction for VAPLD cardholders only.
 You must have a valid library card to register for computer classes.
 

These instructor led classes are offered to help you develop the basic skills you need to use computers. Here you’ll find class descriptions and handouts provided for each class.  It is not necessary to have attended a class in order to download the handouts.  If after viewing the handouts you would like to register; click on the link provided to go to the class schedule.

 
 


Introduction to Computers

Class Title Basic Computers I – Introduction
Class Date Wednesday, April 9 from 1–3pm or 7–9pm
Class Description Learn the basics of using a computer, including terminology, parts of a computer and mouse skills. Laptop computers are provided.
Prerequisite No computer knowledge necessary.

Class Title Basic Computers II – Keyboard Essentials
Class Date Wednesday, April 16 from 1–3pm or 7–9pm
Class Description Now that you know the basics, learn how to use the computer keyboard more efficiently by using a keyboarding tutorial and by practicing your skills.
Prerequisite Mouse experience is necessary.

Open Lab

Class Description The computer classroom is available for computer class students who would like to practice the skills they have learned in class. Assistance will be available.

Class Description Would you like to have e-mail but do not have an account? Set up your own free Yahoo e-mail account and explore the basics of using Yahoo Mail.

Class Description Create folders to manage your Yahoo email, add attachments to outgoing mail, open attachments, and use the contact list. Must bring your valid Yahoo ID and password. A valid Yahoo ID and password are necessary to participate.

Class Title File and Folder Management

Class Description Organize data on your computer, move files from one folder to another and create or delete files and folders.

Class Description Are you tired of spending hours searching the Internet and still not finding what you want? This class provides tips for searching the Internet more quickly and effectively.
