| How do I apply for a VAPLD library card?
Applying for VAPLD library card only takes a few moments at the Patron Services Desk. If eligible, you will receive your wallet and keychain library card on the spot.
Residents:
- Show a picture identification with a currently valid district address.
- Apply in person.
- Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian apply for a card in their name. The child must be present to receive a card.
Nonresident Taxpayers:
- Present a current VAPLD tax bill and acceptable identification.
- Businesses and organizations must present proof that the business or organization is located in the VAPLD.
- Non-residents must present their current tax bill and acceptable identification, and must pay the annual fee determined by a formula prepared by the Illinois State Library, and is based on the equalized assessed valuation of the applicant’s property.
Out-of-district residents or people with a library card from another public library may also register their library card at VAPLD. Your library card and identification with current address are required to register. There are some limits to what out-of-district residents can checkout.
All applicants for a VAPLD library card must provide the following information: name, address, telephone number. Optional information includes: e-mail address, birth year, and secondary telephone numbers. |
