This database pairs classic children’s nonfiction books and fiction videos to support learning. BookFlix is perfect for every child – early readers, reluctant readers and English Language Learners. It is accessible for VAPLD cardholders through the library website at www.vapld.info>Kids>Books and Reading. If you do not have a VAPLD card, you can use this resource in the library.

For more information, please contact Youth Services at 847 634-3650.

Personal Reading Lists

With so many good books at the library, how do you choose? If you would like some help, come to the Youth Services Desk and ask for a Personal Reading Inventory. After reviewing your interests and reading preferences, our staff will create a list of books chosen just for you. We will call you when the list is ready. This service is for beginning readers through grade 8.

Novelist K-8

Explore fiction with Novelist K–8! This online database offers information for K–grade 8 students on authors, awards and books. Use it to find books similar to the ones you like or to find reading suggestions based on reading skill level. Novelist K–8 is accessible for VAPLD cardholders through the library website at www.vapld.info>Kids>Books and Reading.
